StarSkate
StarSkate at the York Region Skating Centre offers two distinct program streams designed around each skater’s individual goals and stage of development. Our StarSkaters range from beginner recreational skaters looking to explore the fundamentals of figure skating, to dedicated athletes training within the Skate Ontario Provincial STAR pathway.
StarSkate B
StarSkate B is our introductory figure skating program, ideal for skaters beginning their StarSkate journey and building strong fundamentals.
- 50-minute sessions with 45 minutes of coached group lesson time
- Group lessons only, with a maximum 1:5 coach-to-skater ratio
- Focus on skating skills, field moves, spins, and jumps
- Seasonal assessments to track progress
- Session fees include ice time and group coaching
This program is suitable for skaters who have passed Stage 5 of the CanSkate program and covers skills in the Star 1 and 2 levels.
StarSkate A
StarSkate A is our advanced program for skaters pursuing higher-level training, private lessons, and competitive opportunities. This program offers flexibility, individualized coaching, and a performance-focused environment to support skaters aiming to progress within the competitive StarSkate pathway.
- 50-minute sessions with a mix of lessons and solo practice time
- Designed for skaters interested in competition
- Private, semi-private and group lessons booked and tailored to each skater's individual goals and competition level
- Skaters are expected to skate a minimum of 2x/week
- Session fee covers ice time only, all coaching fees separate
This program is suitable for skaters competing at a Star 2 - Gold level. Advancement to this level dependent on director approval.
